Keeping a food diary doesn’t have to be hard and STOP eating the kids leftovers!
If you want to lose weight the number one tip I have is…… keep a food diary.
By doing this you become increasingly aware of how much food you are actually consuming.
It is so easy to finish off the kids leftovers after all, as it is ‘such a waste’ to throw the food out. The only problem with that is the leftovers really do become leftovers when they are stuck to our bellies or bums.
Trust me I know, I have lost well over 23kg and this was one of the major contributors to my weight in the first place.
I was never one to chow down on a bag of chips or a block of chocolate but I always finished what was on my plate, as well as my sons Darcy’s, this was engrained in me from my Italian father! Plus I love food, I mean really LOVE it!
There are so many free downloads for food diaries on the web or simply write it down on a piece of paper.
I have included one food diary I liked because it let you also note your mood when you were eating.
This is very important as we all eat for very different reasons. It is from America so the fluid is in ounces but apart from that it is all universal see what you think – http://www.personal-nutrition-guide.com/support-files/food_mood_journal.pdf
You don’t have to go on a “Diet” and only eat lettuce, try just writing down what you eat and become aware of what you put in your mouth and from there you can asses what you should continue to eat and what you should cut down to sometimes foods!
Have a go and let me know how it goes, it really is a great change to make without really changing all that much!
Remember, no kids leftovers, put them straight in the bin or better still get the kids to do it so you won’t be tempted to eat just one on your way to the bin! (You can’t fool me I know them all)
Talk again soon,
Rosy
