Here are some ways to make the time to fit exercise into your daily life:
- Where is your time going? First take a look at where your time goes and where you could schedule the time to exercise, even if it’s for only 15-30 minutes.
- Get some exercise while running errands. Use the stairs rather than escalators or lifts, park further away from stores and walk.
- Make sure you are doing something you enjoy. If you don’t like running then try something different such as a team sport or
- Exercise with your children. If it is to difficult or not possible to leave your children while you exercise, involve them. Go to the park and play with them, go bike riding together or if they are to young for that there are many exercises you can do while holding them or laying them on the ground.
- Find a friend to exercise with. There is no doubt that it is easier to workout when someone else is there to keep you accountable. It is also more enjoyable. You can go for walks or jogs in the park or along the beach, or go for a swim or play a game of tennis.
- Enrol in a fitness class for new mums. These classes enable you to exercise with your baby as well as introducing you to other mums who can become workout partners later on.
- Trade off workout times with dad. Take turns minding the children while you workout.
Initially it may not be easy to make exercise a habit, but with some planning and creativity it is very do-able. It’s as simple as making the decision and taking action. There is no better time to start than now.
